I still do…
We just celebrated 21 years of marriage and although we didn’t do all the typical celebratory things like dinner out, or even a typical “date night” it was very special and maybe even more special. The kids set the table like a fine restaurant with place-cards and a beautiful centerpiece of tulips. They had a host check-in stand and they saw us to our seats on either side of the table, of course. Then Jason pre-ordered Outback Steakhouse and he picked it up curbside since we are all supposed to be staying away from the inside of restaurants. Our steaks, salads and lobster tails were cooked to perfection and the kids decided to eat outside since they wanted to give us our privacy. So sweet and romantic. Maybe we talked about work, maybe we read some work paperwork during dinner, but who is keeping track right? With my cracked ribs there is not much more that can happen, but spend the evening at home with the ones I love and watch our wedding video that was on a VHS tape. Thankfully I had the forethought years ago to have it transferred onto DVD. Jason and I never laughed so hard at all the bloopers, out-takes and hilarious moments that I honestly don’t remember. It warmed my heart to see the people 21 years ago that we still are friends with today and saddened me to see all those that have passed on. What a “time-capsule” of life and what was once a simpler time for Jason and I. We both hadn’t finished college, we hadn’t had kids and I barely was of drinking age. All we knew is that we loved each other dearly from the first moment we met face-to-face and that our lives would never be the same since. We have had MANY ups and downs, but I give all the glory to the Lord for helping us to love, forgive, and be gracious towards each other. He has been so kind and considerate since I broke my ribs, so thankful for the little things these days. This anniversary was very different than our last anniversary of celebrating on a cruise ship to the Caribbean with friends and then to tons of amusement parks, but I wounld’t trade it for the world.
